This
report is an effort to contribute to the goal of improving
data collection, analysis and dissemination of information
and research on child labor, especially its worst forms.
Balancing statistical precision with qualitative analysis,
the rapid assessment aims to provide policy makers with
insights into the magnitude, character, causes and
consequences of the worst forms of child labor,
particularly on girls in three specific
sectors—commercial agriculture, domestic service and
commercial sexual exploitation.
This
paper serves as an accompanying text to the sectoral
reports on girl-child labor in the Philippines.
It gives a historical and macro-level context to
the studies in terms of general policies and programs on
child labor, as well as related socio-economic indicators,
with focus on gender and regional disparities.
