Decent Work is Alive and Well in the Philippines  
Year Completed: 2005

The paper was presented to the Employment and Social Policy Committee Meeting during the 294the the ILO Governing Body. It contains the history and process of evolution of decent work in the Philippines , its operational implementation, and concrete achievements under its four pillars.  Also highlighted in the paper are the directions the Philippines will take toward the achievement of decent work, as embodied in the National Action Plan for Decent Work 2005-2007. These are as follows:

  • Pursuit of alternative dispute settlement strategies

  • Use of the labor standards enforcement framework to promote better social partnership

  • Continued recognition of overseas employment as a viable employment opportunity that requires cooperative international action
