Trends and Development in Asian Women
Participation in the Labor Market

The paper provides an overview of recent trends and developments in the world economy which have significant implications on women and the issues confronting Asian women workers in particular.  It presents current labor market trends among Asian women highlighting their increasing participation in the labor force, their propensity to be engaged in flexible working arrangements and informal types of work.  The resulting issues and policy implications of these developments on women workers are likewise discussed.
