Social Exclusion in the Philippines:
A Review of Literature

(Published by the International Institute for Labor Studies, Geneva, as a discussion paper under the Labor Institutions and Development Programme)

Year Completed: 1994

The paper discusses, within the context of social exclusion, issues pertaining to poverty, access to employment, humane working conditions and worker organizations/ representations.

While the use of the concept of social exclusion is yet to be formally introduced in the Philippines, the available literature reveals that there have been attempts to surface issues relating to social exclusion such as lack of access, deprivation, marginalization, the disadvantaged, the poor, etc. these have looked into factors which cause individuals and/ or groups of people to be excluded from goods, services, activities, and even from their basic rights due to conditions prevailing in their environment.
