On behalf of the Institute for Labor Studies, I am pleased to welcome you to our new official website. This website contains very important information about the ILS and the advocacy and research work it has done. The new ILS website also contains relevant data on the latest and pressing labor and employment concerns of the day.
Policy papers and researches are found in this website on labor and employment issues in the Philippines such as, but not limited to, migration, overseas employment, minimum wages, workers’ welfare and benefits, and trade unionism.
The researches produced by the ILS are not just the usual papers that one can find. The crop of researches produced by the ILS contains alternative solutions to some of the more complex and vexing issues of the day. The idea was to stimulate discussion thru providing new frameworks supported by a body of evidence for policy makers and practitioners to use. This stems from our avowed objective since 1987 as a research institute to continue bridging the observed gaps connecting research, policy and practice.
Furthermore, the ILS has also gone beyond the usual and common labor issues. It has been venturing into new issues and trends in labor and employment. These include: gender issues in the workplace, HIV/AIDS, a global labor diplomacy strategy, green jobs and a climate-smart workplace. Thus, we hope that through our website, people would be able to appreciate not only the information that can be found here but more importantly, the efforts and hard work put out by the people of ILS and DOLE.
We hope this website will be your regular site on the burning issues in labor and employment today.
