Welcome to the Migration Information Resource Center
 

The MIRC is the Department’s response to current research and policy interest on migration issues.  Dedicated to all Overseas Filipinos and their invaluable contribution to the country’s development, the MIRC shall serves as information resource center to support efforts of migration stakeholders to uplift the welfare of Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) and their families through the formulation of research-based migration policies and programs.

Beginnings of FIlipino Diaspora
The first recorded Filipino migration was the result of an unexpected turn of events that happened to a voyage to China. The mission consisted of royalties from Sulu who wanted to improve their trade leverages with the Chinese.

   
The OFW’s Unsung Hero
The Overseas Filipino Worker is hailed as today’s hero. But, as early as the 1960s, a Filipino in California was already fighting for the rights of farmworkers and thus, deserves a rightful place in history.
