Labor thinktank releases first toolkit on decent work for Pinoyemployers, trainers and workers. As part of itscampaign for decent work, government labor thinktank Institute for Labor Studies (ILS), in partnership with the International Labor Organizationhaswritten a toolkit for speakers, trainers and other potential advocates of decent work. The project is part of the 3rd Cycle of Decent Work Agenda, 2008-2010, which seeks to educate the public on decent work especially at the grassroots level.

ILO 15th Asia Pacific Regional Meeting to be held in Kyoto, Japan; will consider employment, economic outlook

The 15th Asia and the Pacific Regional Meeting (APRM) of the International Labour Organization (ILO) will take place from 4-7 December 2011 at the Kyoto International Convention Centre (KICC), Kyoto , Japan . The meeting is expected to be attended by about 500 people, representing more than 46 countries in Asia and the Pacific and the Arab States and Territories in West Asia . Among those scheduled to attend are Prime Ministers, government ministers, representatives of workers' and employers' organizations and academics.

ILS to hold 3rd Strategic Conversations

Labor think-tankInstitute for Labor Studies (ILS) will hold the 3rd Strategic Conversations on 18 October 2011, at the Bayleaf Hotel in Intramuros, Manila. The event coincides with the celebration of World Day on Decent Work held every October each year.

“Both the PAL management and the PALEA remain firm in their respective positions in the present dispute despite efforts to conciliate to avoid further inconvenience to the riding public. . “The Philippine Airlines Employees Association (PALEA) continues to assail the legality of the outsourcing, which the DOLE has already decided. “The DOLE decision was affirmed by the Office of the President, and now subject of a petition for certiorari before the Court of Appeals.
